Cuando la gente de MS implementó el uso de sus propios codecs en Windows 7 se "olvidaron" de ofrecer soporte para cargar subtitulos externos desde fichero. Para los que estamos acostumbrados a ver las series en versión original es un problema al cual por ahora, no dan solución.

Afortunadamente, otra gente se ha preocupado de solucionarlo. Lo que tenemos que hacer es descargar este paquete de codecs

Una vez instalado, debemos realizar los siguientes cambios:

En la pestaña de config, marcamos la opción de "FFDshow external" bajo la opción de "subtitle control"
Dentro de "misc config" pulsamos el boton de VobSubtitles y nos vamos a la pestaña de General. Aquí en la opción "loading" lo dejamos en "Do not load"
Volvemos a "misc config" y pulsamos el botón de Haali. En la pestaña de config, debemos ir a la opción de "compatibility - Autoload VSFilter" y dejarla en "No"
Por ultimo, en la pestaña de swap, debemos marcar la opción de "Use ffdswhow" bajo la opción de "Xvid, dvix..., in Directshow"

Con esto, nos funcionarán los subtitulos bajo Media Center en Windows 7.

Si descargamos la versión de mapsource desde la web de Garmin, nos daremos cuenta de que solo es una actualización y que necesitamos ya tener una versión en nuestro ordenador.

Una forma de solucionarlo es copiar el siguiente texto en un fichero y grabarlo con extensión ".reg":

Uno de los inconvenientes de leer un fichero nagios.log es interpretar la fecha del evento. Ejecutando este script podemos convertir la fecha a algo más legible:

Si montamos una plantilla de Windows XP bajo vSphere, veremos que por defecto, nos lo hace con discos IDE. Si queremos hacerla con discos SCSI, deberemos hacer lo siguiente:

descargamos los drivers de LSI 20320 para Windows XP
Descargamos Winimage
Descomprimimos lo que hemos descargado y creamos un imagen virtual de disquete (.flp)
La subimos al servidor Vmware y listo.

Ya solo nos queda enlazar la imagen flp en la máquina que queremos montar y pulsar F6 cuando nos lo pida.

Alineación de discos y particiones en Vmware vSphere

Una de las últimas cosas que están de moda en los entornos de virtualización, es la alineación de los discos con respecto a las particiones VMFS y los arrays de los discos de la cabina.

Para alinear el disco de un máquina virtual tenemos 2 opciones:

Pasar por caja (Vizioncore vOptimezer)
Alinearlo antes de instalar el S.O. y no nos costará un duro.

Si optamos por la opción 2 necesitamos los siguientes ingredientes:

Descargar e instalar Bartpe
Descargamos el plugin para bartPE
una iso de Windows 2003 R2 SP1 o superior.

Ahora debemos seguir los siguientes pasos:

Instalamos BartPE
Guardamos el plugin que hemos descargado en una carpeta llamada diskpart_w2k3 dentro del directorio plugins del BartPE.
Editamos el fichero .inf y ponemos la linea enable =1
Descomprimimos la ISO de windows 2003 en un directorio (winrar es perfecto para esto).
Creamos un fichero ISO con la herramienta BartPE y subimos este fichero al servidor de vSphere.

Ahora solo nos queda linkarlo a la máquina virtual que nos interesa y arrancar la máquina. Una vez en marcha, abrimos una ventana MS-DOS y escribimos lo siguiente:

diskpart.exe
select disk 0
create partition primary align=64
exit

Ya podemos quitar el link a la ISO bartpe y poner la iso del sistema operativo windows que nos interese y empezar a instalar.

Before going any further, as usual we have to have the warnings;

Please read through the guide first, and if you are unsure about anything, then do not start it.

This site will not accept any blame or liability for any issues that may occur following the guide.

Ok after saying that, I can assure you this guide is exactly what I did, and it only took a few moments to change the product code. Run the upgrade, and change the code back again.

Step 1.

Please backup any data before you start. And then check the backup is ok.

Step 2.

You will need to know what the product is for your phone. You will find this on the label inside the battery compartment. It is a seven digit number and will start with 05*****

Step 3.

You will need to down load Nemesis Service Suite (NSS) V 1.0.38.15. It is free (not even a trial period) and can be download from HERE. This version supports N97 and 5800

Step 4.

Unzip the file and run the install.

Step 5.

Connect your N97 to your PC, and select Nokia Suite, this will not work on Mass Storage mode. But you must close Nokia Suite on your pc if it is running.

Click on the magnifying glass to scan for your phone. It should pick it up in a few seconds.

Step 6.

Once you phone has been detected, please select the Phone Info button, and then the scan button.

If you see a message "Scan for product Error!" please reconnect your phone making sure you select PC Suite. Not Mass Storage.

Step 7.

Once your phone details are in the Details/Information view plane, then enter the new product code you want to use in the Product Code field, and tick the Enable box.

For the list of codes, please see the end of this stepthru.

This is what NSS should look like before clicking on the Write button. Please do not use any other options or buttons! I haven't tested them.

Sorry for the link, I tried to do images for all the steps but couldn't get them to resize for this site, but will work on it.

Step 8.

With your new product code entered and the enable box ticked, select the Write button below the enable boxes.

After a few moments the job will be done. You will see the message "Write new values....Done"

You can now close NSS, and run the NSU and it should pick up V12 to install. Once installed, your phone will restart.

If your phone doesn't restart, or you are not happy with the way it is performing after, then please follow the spinlala post in this section to do a hard reset.

Your phone should retain all your personal data on it, including any security PIN's you have setup.

Once this is done, you can repeat the above process and enter your original product code. This will not affect the upgrade at all.

Please, note if you use Nokia Push email, you will need to revert back to your original product code to use your previous email settings. And any other account associated with your hand set, ie OVI etc.

Also if you have to return the phone for any warranty claims, you should make sure you have the original code set.

I used 0576460 product code for N97 white spanish euro.

Please note there may be more recent updates for your country, so try a Google search for your country N97 product code.

Primero tenemos que habilitar el acceso SSH. Se puede hacer así y reiniciamos el servidor.

Despues, ejecutamos lo siguiente:

1. Generate your ssl cert using openssl, or however else you want to do it. You need a .key and .crt file.
2. Now scp your .key and .crt files to your esxihost and put them in the /etc/vmware/ssl directory
3. Now cd to /etc/sfcb and edit sfcb.cfg. Change the rui.crt and rui.key references to reflect your cert files.
4. run services.sh restart

Con el VAGCOM:

Si tienes el Vag-com... hay que verificar el funcionamiento de la electrovalvula de limitacion de presion del turbo (n75).... por pasos:

1º Motor caliente y en marcha al ralentí con el vag-com enchufado.
2º entras en "motor"
3º Pulsas en "04 Ajuste basico"
4º pones el grupo "011"
5º en el campo 2 te saldrá alternativamente cada 10 segundos "ON" y "OFF"...(notarás como cada vez que cambia el motor suena diferente... es normal, no te asustes)
6º compruebas en el campo 4 que indica tambien alternativamente "0%" y "100%"
7º abre el capot y observa la varilla que mueve la geometría variable del turbo.... en cada cambio debe subir y bajar por completo... con "ON" debe levantarse y con "OFF" debe caerse.
8º deja que actue así durante unos cinco o diez minutos para que poco a poco se suelte parte de la carbonilla que tiene dentro y suavice su recorrido....
9º apaga todo, desconecta y sal a dar una vuelta

Place them on a temporary directory you know how to find easily.

Run RNSE_SDS.exe and open the above LOADING.KWI file...
Then, just press SAVE (if the button is available, the file could be correctly patched and indeed already is...).

Burn the above files on a CD.

Insert the CD on your RNS-E....

That's all...

Worst thing may happen is your RNS-E does nothing when inserting the CD and this means bad recorder or dirty lens... or even bad media...

Problema de carga en Tomtom Rider

El rider 2 falla de lo mismo con anclaje distinto,o tiramos el rider o buscamos una solucion.
Yo lo he solucionado,y no falla. Solucion hacernos nuestro propio cargador.

Materiales: 1 cargador movil para coche(hay muchas tiendas que tienen modelos desfasados por 2 0 3 euros), 1 clavija como la del cargador de casa( de venta en tiendas de electronica), cable paralelo, un soldador y estaño. 1 comprovador de tension <( para no cometer errores de polaridad)

Se coje un cargador de movil de coche ,la mayoria son de 12v a 5 v, se habre y se suelda dos cables, positivo y negativo al circuito impreso del cargador y a la bateria, por el extremo que da la salida 5 v , se quita el el cable que lleva para el movil y se sutituye por un paralelo que vaya al cargador del tomtom con la clavija corespondiente( comprada en tienda de electronica), se quita la clavija antigua que va al base del cargador del tomtom, se quita la tapita del tomtom, dode entra la sd( hay que sacrificar la tappita, se quita corriendo el eje como las correas de reloj), se coloca el tomtom en el soporte y se enchufa el cable que hemos preparado, se enchufa por la clvija de abajo como lo enchufamos en casa,

Quiero aclarar que algunos piensan que su soporte falla y yo me he dado cuenta, que algunos cargadores de totom no dan la tension correcta, el mio daba 4.80 voltios y en carga se quedaba en 4,40 voltios, y es insuficiente para cargar y menos para soportar la opcion (apagar cuanto no reciba tension exterior), para que esta opcion funcione necesita estar en 4,80 voltios ya con el tomtom en carga, si no lo interpreta como si no le entrase tension.
Por la lluvia no pasa nada la tapita que quitamos esta abajo y no entra agua.
Mi proximo gps no sera tomtom, es indignate que saquen el rider 2 y tenga el mismo problema, si no mirar este foro: http://www.tomtomgps.net/

Remove both side panels, via dzus fasteners & plastic quarter turn fastener inside, by forks.

Undo the six filler cap screws (if you open the filler cap & stuff clean rag in you'll stop metal swarf from entering the fuel tank or accidentally dropping a screw in!).....

Then undo two screws near the beak & two which hold the bottom of the the metal panels to the fuel tank and the whole painted tank top & metal side panels come off as one.

I then wrapped another piece of rag under the metal filler neck flange which now has about 2cm movement, restricted by internal plumbing. This rag is again to stop drilling swarf from entering the tank.

Then drill the holes & reassemble.

Clearly this whole exercise is unecessary if you don't mind waiting ages at petrol stations for it to cough & splutter fuel everywhere while you fill it to about 90% of it's capacity..........besides it was pissing down with rain here today & I didn't have anything better to do!!

La luz de control se encenderá para confirmar que la llave ha sido codificada correctamente.

Despues de varios intentos (gftpd, etc..) he decidido montar FlashFXP sobre Wine. ninguno de los programas de FTP actuales para linux, que he encontrado, tiene la versatilidad de FlashFXP.

Si lo instalas con Wine, la mayoria de las versiones no funcionan incluyendo las últimas (wine 1.1.2 y FlashFXP 3.6).

En esta web hay un workaround. Una vez instalado, basta ejecutar lo siguiente en una consola:

De esta forma, podremos listar contenido y descargar. Ahora solo falta que pueda subir ficheros.

Con la versión 2.0 sin fichero de ayuda funciona!!

It installs a virtual drive in “My Computer”, with a letter of your choice, in which it puts a folder for every your FTP account.
Now you can load and save on FTP exactly as you usually work on your local files.

Como instalar XP desde un USB

1) Formatted the USB flash drive with HP's utility, using Windows Enabler to make it bootable with DOS.
2) Slipstreamed an XP Pro CD using NLlite to include SP2 and the Intel Matrix Storage Manager (the SATA drivers)
3) Copied the slipstreamed i386 directory onto _both_ the USB flash drive, and the destination hard drive from the X61 (hooked up via external USB enclosure)
4) Copied smartdrv.exe, himem.sys and config.sys (enabling himem) from a Win98 boot disk onto the USB drive.
5) Boot the X61 from USB (Access IBM - F12 - select the appropriate USB drive), launch smartdrv, then launch winnt from the i386 directory.

At this point the install ran more or less normally. The one caveat is that you need to have the i386 directory on the internal drive too, because when XP is finally bootstrapping itself from the internal drive, it may not have access to the USB flash drive (as in my case).

I will follow this article up shortly with a free software iSCSI setup that runs extremely well for lab/test usage. 1. Installing Windows Services for UNIX (WSFU)

Download windows services for UNIX at:

My path is \\myserver.mydomain.int\NFS-VMFS01 for the windows share and NFS share on the windows host with WSU installed.

4. Sharing the Windows folder for NFS compatibility

Right click the local folder you wish to share via NFS
Share the folder by clicking NFS sharing
Type in the name for the share i.e. NFS-VMFS01
Remove allow anonymous access
Click permissions
Now Change type of access to “Read+Write” then check allow root access.

5. Configure the ESX Server to mount the Window NFS Share as VMFS

Open the VC client and highlight the Vi3 host
In the Configure tab choose Networking
Add networking, VMKernel then pick a vSwitch, then give the VMkernel an IP that is accessible via the NFS host.
Now open the storage option for this host
Click add storage, > Network File System
In the Server Field enter in myserver.mydomain.int
In the Folder field enter /NFS-VMFS01
For the Datastore I also used NFS-VMFS01

Colaboración: Problemas con Terminal Server en VM Multiprocesador

Si instalamos un Terminal Server en una VM sobre VMware ESX y esta VM es multiprocesador, el rendimiento de la VM se ve muy afectado. Buscando en las VMware Communities encontré un thread:

Aquí se habla del tema y comenta que las VM que utilicen TS mejor dejarlas con monoprocesador virtual. Nosotros lo probamos y fue efectivo.

En cualquier caso con los nuevos parches del ESX 3.5 Update 1 hemos hecho pruebas del TS con 2 procesadores y los 'polvos mágicos' y parece que funciona bien de momento sin que el rendimiento baje de una forma drástica.

En definitiva: Si tenemos una VM uniprocesador con Windows Server 2003

y le añadimos otro procesador, el Windows reconocerá bien y cambiará el driver del HAL por 'Equipo multiprocesador ACPI'. Hasta aquí todo correcto.

Ahora bien si tenemos una VM multiprocesador y la bajamos a un sólo procesador virtual, el Windows, cuando arranca no detecta el cambio en el Administrador de dispositivos y sigue apareciendo 'Equipo multiprocesador ACPI, lo que afectará al procesamiento simétrico y el rendimiento no mejora.

Para solucionarlo simplemente hay que ir al Administrador de dispositivos, botón derecho sobre 'Equipo Multiprocesador ACPI, actualizar controlador, instalar desde una lista o ubicación específica (avanzado), No buscar, seleccionaré..., Siguiente, y seleccionar 'Monoprocesador ACPI de PC.

Es recomendable hacer una snapshot antes del cambio ya que si nos equivocamos de controlador la HAL puede quedar incorrecta y al arrancar el Windows nos mostrará una BSOP.

It will save you a lot of time afterwards to get things straight.

So before you make any changes, open the default template in Category: Session by selecting Default Settings and pressing the Load button.

Make SSH the default.
If you have an older version of Putty, chances are that you have Telnet as the default protocol. Changing it to SSH will probably save you some time when you start Putty out-of-the-blue. For this go to Category: Session and select SSH.

Increase scrollback buffer.
By default Putty buffers 200 lines of output, which is too little in lots of circumstances. And the moment you actually need this number increased, chances are you already lost some information you wanted. So it is wise to increase this number. What I do is go to Category: Window and increase Lines of scrollback to 20000.

Choose a good font.
The newer Putty binaries are able to make use of ClearType which drastically improves the font quality compared to Antialiased. Go to Category: Window > Appearance, choose ClearType and a nice font. I prefer Lucida Console, 9-point.

When you are there, you might want to change the Gap between text and window edge to 3 pixels.

Use proper character encoding.
Nowadays all Linux systems are able to use Unicode (UTF-8) so to make sure that the output in Putty (especially everything non-ascii) looks fine, go to Category: Window > Translation and change the character set to UTF-8, make sure that also the line drawing characters use Unicode as well.

Linux copy-and-pasting.
I prefer to do an implicit copy when selecting and using the middle mouse button for pasting. So I go to Category: Window > Selection and set the Action of mouse buttons to xterm (Right extends, Middle pastes)

When you are there, also enable the option Paste to clipboard in RTF as well as plain text, which is nice when you are copy-and-pasting to emails or text documents that allow fonts and colours. Your console output will look much the same as it does on your screen!

Change dark colours on a black background.
One of the more annoying things with terminal applications (xterm has the same issue) is that by default dark-blue is too dark to be visible on a black background. Not only is this frustrating, it makes the experience for new users so bad that they prefer to disable colours (or hate the ls colour output or syntax highlighting in vim).

So if you are like me, go to Category: Window > Colours and select ANSI Blue in the Select a colour to adjust to Red:74 Green:74 Blue:255. I do the same for ANSI Blue Bold to Red:140 Green:140 Blue:255.

Keeping idle sessions active.
Another frustrating problem is induced by the time-to-live of inactive or idle TCP sessions on firewall or switch configurations. At some companies this is put aggressively low so that TCP sessions that have no activity for 1 minute or even 30 seconds are being dropped. If you are using an SSH connection over such a network device, you have to take care to send keep-alive packets over your idle session. To do this go to Category: Connection and set Seconds between keepalives (0 to turn off) to 25.

Enable X11 forwarding.
Together with Xming, Putty allows you to run graphical Linux applications on your Windows system, so enabling X11 forwarding by default can be useful. To enable this, got to: Connection > SSH > X11 and enable Enable X11 forwarding.

Also dynamic forwarding is very useful to connect to systems on a remote network, even when you do not know in advance having it enabled can be useful. This option however reserves a local port on the system so enabling it by default is not really practical. However you can still enable it from a running Putty by selecting Change settings.

Finally, saving the default.
Now, don't forget to save the changes you just made to the default template. If you loaded the Default Settings at the start, return back to Category: Session and press the Save button. Now you are done !

Acústica y otros problemas fisicos

Hace un tiempo, me compré un equipo de música de gama media. Alguien acostumbrado al "jaien" te diría que solo sirve para escuchar la radio y en cambio, alguno de mis amigos me dijo que estaba loco por gastarme semejante dineral.

El caso es que despues de un tiempo, sigo sin encontrar el sonido que yo creo que debería tener un equipo de estas características.

He empezado a probar lo típico en estos casos. Cambiar el cableado por algo acorde al equipo, emplear puntas de desacoplo, cambiar la ubicación de los altavoces, etc...

Como sigo igual, voy a meterme en algo más complicado. La acústica.

Paseando por google, he encontrado este software para analizar la acustica de una sala (como le gusta llamar a los "entendidos" a una habitación).

Me liaré la manta a la cabeza y vamos a ver que sale. Espero no llegar hasta este punto.

Hoy, visitando la web de un amigo, he descubierto una web nueva que se dedica a indexar la música que escuchamos.

Tan solo hace falta instalar un plugin en el programa que utilizamos para escuchar la música. Este plugin se encarga de enviar automaticamente la información al servidor central y presentarla en tu perfil.

Probaremos el invento unos dias :)
